Vision-net Reports: Company Start-ups Surge by 11% in July | Business Growth

Company start-ups in July were up 11pc over the same month last year to 1,518, according to new figures from Vision-net.ie. This is the highest number of company start-ups for July since pre-recession 2007 and works out at almost 49 new companies each day. Vision-net said the professional services sector was the most popular industry for start-ups in July, accounting for 22pc of new companies, followed by wholesale and retail (10pc) and construction (9pc). The figures also reveal a 47pc fall in construction company insolvencies compared to July 2013. Subway invests €1m in RoI only campaign to promote ‘Sub of the Day’

Subway has launched its first Republic of Ireland only marketing campaign, investing €1m to alert Irish consumers to the return of the ‘Sub of the Day’ offer – seven subs, one for each day of the week, for €2.99 each. The campaign encompasses TV, radio, print and digital advertising as well as on street activations and a PR campaign. It has been created in response to consumer demand requiring a bespoke offer for Irish customers. The advertising creative was developed by McCann London with Mediacom handling the media buying. 200,000 bees to live in AIB HQ rooftop apiary in Ballsbridge

Boyne Valley Group and AIB have introduced the first rooftop apiary on a commercial building in Ireland in an attempt to help increase the country’s bee population. The initiative will see over 200,000 honeybees located on the sixth story roof of AIB Bankcentre in Ballsbridge. It is expected the bees will pollinate flowers and trees within a five kilometre radius of the hives and produce an average of 20 jars of honey per hive by the end of the summer. Zendesk officially opens European HQ in Ranelagh

Cloud-based computer service software provider Zendesk has today officially opened its Dublin development centre at Grand Parade in Ranelagh, which has capacity to allow the company to grow its headcount from its current 52 to 150. The company’s CEO Mikkel Svane was joined by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton at the new office this evening.
