United Airlines Resumes Direct Summer Flights from Shannon to Chicago

United Airlines has re-introduced its non-stop service between Shannon and its Chicago hub, O’Hare International Airport, for the summer in response to customer demand.

The service is operating until 15 September 2014, a more extended period than last year. The frequency of the service is five flights weekly until 16 Jun and the period 19 August to 1 September, daily between 17 June and 18 August, and four flights weekly between 2 to 15 September (all dates westbound).

Declan Power, head of aviation development at Shannon Airport, commented: “The increase of 90 additional flights to and from Chicago this year is a testament to the success of the route which was launched last year.

“The route will again be a major contributor to the growing number of US visitors to Ireland. In this regard, we expect many visitors to sample elements of the longest coastal touring route in the world when they arrive at the gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way.”

United Airlines, a major American airline headquartered in Chicago, has long recognized the importance of transatlantic connections and is dedicated to strengthening its global network. Known for its commitment to customer satisfaction, the airline consistently evaluates and adjusts its services to meet the ever-changing travel demands. As part of this strategic approach, United has announced the resumption of its direct service from Chicago to Shannon, Ireland, for the summer season, underscoring its focus on popular travel destinations during the peak vacation period.

Shannon, located on the west coast of Ireland, is a gateway to the stunning landscapes of the country’s Wild Atlantic Way and is within easy reach of Ireland’s charming towns and vibrant cities. Recognizing Shannon’s appeal among tourists and those returning to their Irish roots, United Airlines’ decision to bring back this direct service significantly boosts the region’s tourism industry. This move not only emphasizes United’s investment in meeting customer demand for leisure travel but also reflects the airline’s commitment to facilitating economic growth and fostering cultural exchange between the United States and Ireland.
