Ireland’s immigrants and expats offer a viable means of expanding merchandise and service exports from the SME sector, which usually underperforms big business in international trade, a seminar heard today. This was a view put across by Professor Ivan Light, an international expert on migration and enterprise, who believes Ireland is uniquely placed to benefit from migrant entrepreneurship. 30 export jobs to be offered on new website

Chief executive of the Irish Exporters Association (IEA) John Whelan has welcomed the vision for a new era for visa systems for Ireland, which was outlined at the second meeting of the Export Trade Council held last week. The main elements of this new era are: Visa waiver programme The Irish short-stay visa waiver programme started last July was scheduled to run until the end of October 2012, taking into account the period of the London Olympics. 25 Irish Companies to Take Part in Trade Mission to Turkey

Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Eamon Gilmore TD is leading an Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Turkey from 8-11 April with the aim of increasing exchanges between the two countries. Twenty-five Irish software, engineering, and internationally traded services companies are going on the trade mission. The delegation will undertake a series of high-level meetings with government Ministries in Ankara together with some business meetings, engagements and networking events in Istanbul.
