Viagogo Group, operator of ticket marketplace, has announced plans to open a new purpose-built operations centre in Limerick.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

The new operations centre is recruiting for a range of technical and customer service roles for people with a range of skills and languages, including German, French, Italian, and Spanish.

While the new centre is due to open later this year, those who have already been recruited are currently based at a temporary location in the city centre.

“We reviewed many locations for our latest operations centre but we chose Limerick for its reputation as a place of excellence and local talent,” said Edward Parkinson, operations manager for the Viagogo Group. “We have already recruited in the tens but numbers are expected to reach the hundreds in due course.

“The primary role of our international customer services team is to ensure that all of our customers have a great experience when buying or selling event tickets, wherever they are in the world.”
“A key part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is reinforcing Ireland’s claim to be the internet capital of Europe,” said Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton. “Most of the top names on the internet have chosen Ireland as their European base, and these companies employ thousands of people here.
“Today’s announcement that Viagogo is establishing its international operations centre in Limerick is a great boost and shows what is possible across the country with companies like this.”

“Limerick continues to attract businesses in a variety of sectors including technology, medical devices and financial services,” said IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary. “Companies are attracted to Limerick for a variety of reasons – access to excellent talent from the University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology, as well as proximity to international routes in Shannon being but a few examples.”

The company has customers in around 100 countries and its global online platform helps people buy and sell tickets to live sports, entertainment and theatre events all over the world.
