Mole Screening Clinic wins first ‘Start-Up’ competition

A new Dublin-based business, The Mole Screening Clinic is the first monthly winner as part of eircom’s Start-Up initiative, which involves start-ups being videoed and showcased online.

Fifty companies have already been filmed for the initiative, and over 120 companies are currently registered to take part.

The Mole Screening Clinic was established by Mike Malone last year after a family member had a melanoma scare and he discovered at that time that Ireland lacked this type of service.

The clinic uses the newest technology to deliver the highest level of care by using the latest photo capture and digital skin analysis software.

Malone registered his interest in the Eircom Start Up initiative, and the Eircom team produced a two-minute video on the clinic that was then uploaded onto the Eircom business Start-Up site.

As the first monthly winner, Malone has won a telecoms package worth €2,300.

Start-Up is open to any business less than two years old, whether it’s a local business, high-tech, export-led or a new spin on something traditional. The aim is to develop a community of active and successful entrepreneurs and provide an opportunity to network online with hundreds of businesses across Ireland.

Eircom is working with the Small Firms Association and First Step Microfinance on the Start-Up initiative, which is running for another two months.
