McDonald’s Ireland launches Free Breakfast Friday

McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland has officially launched Free Breakfast Friday, which will see the company give away 40,000 Egg McMuffins for free on Friday, 27 March.

Research carried out to celebrate Free Breakfast Friday has revealed that Ireland is a nation of egg lovers, with 62pc of people voting eggs their favourite breakfast menu item, ahead of sausages at 20pc and bacon at 18pc.

Love/Hate star Tom Vaughan-Lawlor has been named Ireland’s dream breakfast companion.

The actor, best known for his role as Nidge, fought off competition, beating Jamie Dornan, Imelda May, Roz Purcell and Stephanie Roche.

When it comes to the most important meal of the day almost half of people (49pc) have a ‘grab-n-go’ attitude, over a quarter (28pc) prefer to ‘sit down and savour’ breakfast and nearly a fifth (19pc) say they ‘devour breakfast with delight’.

Meanwhile, 4pc skip breakfast altogether and have rumbling tummies until lunch.

All of the 87 McDonald’s around Ireland will take part in Free Breakfast Friday on 27 March, offering customers the choice of either a free Bacon & Egg McMuffin or a free Sausage & Egg McMuffin until 10am.

“Over two million eggs were served up in McDonald’s restaurants across Ireland last year and we’re proud of the fact that all our eggs are 100pc Irish and free range, sourced from Greenfield Foods in Co Monaghan,” said McDonald’s Ireland MD Adrian Crean.

“Free Breakfast Friday is a fun way for us to thank our customers for their loyalty. I hope people will pencil the date in their diaries and enjoy breakfast on us on 27 March.”
