HMV to sponsor two music festivals this summer

HMV has entered the festival sponsorship domain, with the announcement that it is to be a main sponsor for Indiependence and Light Colour Sound this summer.

The Indiependence Music & Arts Festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend (1 to 3 August) in Mitchelstown, Co Cork and features the likes of Damien Dempsey and We Cut Corners.

HMV will sponsor the second stage at the festival, which has a 1,200 capacity tent and the main stage at Light Colour Sound, which is a new music festival being held at Shankhill Castle, Paulstown, Co Kilkenny on 4 and 5 July.

With a pop-up shop on site at both festivals, HMV will also be hosting the official launch events for both festivals on 31 May – Indiependence in Limerick with live performances from We Cut Corners and The Academic and Light Colour Sound in HMV Grafton Street with live performances from The Young Folk and The Barley Mob.

“HMV’s sponsorship of both Indiependence and Light Colour Sound reinforces our commitment to live Irish music, and comes on the back of our new partnership with First Music Contact and the Breaking Tunes Breaking Stage,” said Chris Keena, HMV’s head of music.

“Indiependence is one of the most popular and credible Irish music festivals around, while Light Colour Sound promises to be a fantastic addition to the Irish summer festival calendar.”
