Debenhams customers in Ireland are now able to order online and collect from store through a new service that launched this week.

The department store said 78pc of shoppers in its research panel described “waiting for delivery” as the biggest downside to online shopping. With the new service, customers can browse and shop from the full range online and have the convenience of collecting their purchases at their leisure from the store of their choice.

“As part of our ongoing strategy to grow our online business in Ireland we are continually developing the services that customers have available to them,” said Fiona Lay, online director for Debenhams. “Multi-channel retailing allows customers 24/7 access to a wider Debenhams offer and convenient shopping options that suit their needs.

“Customers can also enjoy our in store promotions online at Debenhams.ie without having to flick through the sale rails at a time when making a saving is still a consumer priority.”

When using the ‘Collect from Store’ service, customers will be sent a confirmation email when their shopping is ready for collection. Delivery is guaranteed within three to five working days and includes all Debenhams stores.

Debenhams.ie launched in November 2010 and, according to the company, has enjoyed continuing success, with 2012’s sales up 122pc on 2011.
