Cisco Investing €200k in Big Data Joint Venture with Asystec

The world’s largest supplier of networking products Cisco is to invest €200,000 in a big data joint venture with Irish data management solutions company Asystec.

It will involve Asystec delivering its methodology and expertise in data analytics while Cisco delivers infrastructure and expertise to provide a complete big data solution.

“Corporate partnerships are fuelling the growth of the world’s most successful companies as the demand to provide new innovative products that deliver on customers’ expectations increases,” said Asystec CEO Les Byrne.

“We believe this partnership will be truly successful and will deliver unique value to our customers.”

As well as the financial investment by Cisco, Asystec will be investing in the venture in terms of human resources, marketing and training at the recently launched ‘innovation labs’ at Asystec offices in Belfast, Dublin, Limerick and Cork.

“We are rapidly beginning to experience what we call the ‘Internet of everything’. With each new person, process, piece of data, or thing that comes online, the connection possibilities between all these elements grows exponentially,” said Adam Grennan, Cisco Ireland manager.

The joint venture will be rolled out over the coming 12 months involving significant human and financial resources being committed.

Founded in 2011 by Les Byrne and Brendan McPhillips, Asystec is privately owned and employs 18 people in Limerick, Cork, Dublin, and Belfast.
