CityJet introduces ‘under a minute’ Self Bag Tag system at London City Airport

Irish CityJet passengers are set to enjoy reduced check-in times at London City Airport as the airline today announced the introduction of the Sonic ‘phase 5’ Self Bag Tag system at the airport.

Check-in time is now reduced from a couple of minutes to just 50 seconds.

London City Airport already has the shortest check-in time in the UK, and this system provides passengers flying with CityJet the fastest option for checked-in baggage.

The system is simple; having checked in online or at the airport kiosk, passengers weigh their bags and use their boarding pass at the Self Bag Tag kiosk to generate a label for their bag.

CityJet passengers will then be directed to the designated bag drop zone where they can transfer the luggage themselves.

“We’re constantly looking at ways to invest in technology in order to improve our passenger service, and this new bag-tagging system genuinely simplifies and speeds up the check-in process for our customers,” said Christine Ourmières, CEO CityJet.

“Our customers travel with us because we offer a fast and reliable service – cutting minutes off check in time may not seem like much, but it matters to our passengers who demand a speedy service.”

CEO of London City Airport Declan Collier added: “The introduction of phase 5 technology bag drop kiosks will offer CityJet customers more flexibility and choice in managing their own experience while in the airport. One of the main reasons why people choose to travel through London City Airport is the short time it takes to check in. Now CityJet passengers can check in even more quickly.  We are investing heavily in new technology and seeking innovative new ways to reduce the need to queue, to ease the journey through the airport and to help people make the most of their time with us.”
