Sam McCauley Chemists is to take over Sherwood’s Electrical store this summer. The pharmacy chain said it has invested heavily in the new expansion and it will bring the total number employed by the company in Kilkenny to 25. “We are delighted to be relocating to a bigger premises on High St,” said managing director Patrick McCormack. “We will be making an investment of over €500,000 in the new premises and increasing the number employed to 25. EMC and Vodafone launch industrial internet of things platform developed in Cork

Tech multinational EMC has developed an innovation platform from its Cork base specifically designed for industrial internet of things (IoT) development, in partnership with Vodafone Ireland. Involving an initial €2m investment and called Infinite, this is the first large-scale Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) approved industrial IoT innovation platform in Europe. Value of construction projects started down 20pc in Q1 but applications on the rise – index

The value of construction projects started in the first three months of this year has fallen by 20pc to €1.69bn compared with the first quarter of 2014, according to the Building Information Index, which is produced by a team of researchers at Building Information Ireland (BII). Pet retailer Maxi Zoo has opened its seventeenth store in Ireland, in Newbridge Retail Park, Co Kildare, which will create 15 jobs. Kevin Gaffney Won Sky Academy Arts Scholarship – Dublin Visual Artist

Visual artist Kevin Gaffney was last night named the Irish winner of the Sky Academy arts scholarship.
