CEOs believe marketers lack business credibility and fail to focus on effectiveness – report
The vast majority of CEOs believe that marketers lack business credibility, are not the business growth generators they should be and are not focused enough on effectiveness, according to a report from Fournaise Marketing Group. In compiling its report, the company interviewed more than 600 large corporation and SMB CEOs and decision makers in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia. Some 73pc of the CEOs believe marketers lack business credibility and are unable to demonstrate how their cross-channel marketing strategies and campaigns help to increase their organisations’ top line in terms of more customer demand, sales, prospects, conversions and market share. Two-thirds (66pc) of UK consumers rarely pay attention to ads on social networking sites and over half (56pc) say they don’t like to buy products that they have seen advertised on such sites, according to research from Mintel. Michael Noonan today published a finance bill to allow same sex couples have the same tax rights as married couples. The Minister for Finance needed to change existing tax legislation to bring it in line wit the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010. Civil partners will now receive the same tax treatment as married couples in respect of income tax, stamp duty, capital acquisitions tax, capital gains tax and VAT. In addition, the bill allows for the taxation consequences of the redress scheme for opposite-sex and same-sex cohabiting couples provided for in the 2010 Act. Tullow Oil has successfully encountered oil at three wells offshore Ghana and onshore Uganda. Angus McCoss, exploration director at the Dublin and London-listed company, said some light oil was found at the Banda-1 well offshore Ghana. He said the find was “an encouraging first step” but conceded that the reservoir is poor quality. In Uganda, two wells have encountered oil in line with pre-drill expectations.
