TV3’s sister channel 3e is involving students in the process of a major brand refresh inviting them to contribute as part of the ‘3e Accelerator Programme’. To be launched in coming weeks, the programme aims to empower students from all over the country to submit their ideas as to how 3e should look and feel as a brand predominantly targeting 15-34 year olds. Bank of Ireland has announced a sponsorship deal with Irish professional golfer Shane Lowry which will run until the end of 2016. Irish golfer Graeme McDowell is out in front in a 15-week social media campaign involving 12 golfers striving to raise $125,000 for their chosen charity. Called RBC’s Golf for Kids programme (#RBCGolf4Kids), the campaign is driven by one of McDowell’s sponsors – Royal Bank of Canada. TV3 has revealed its programming plans and strategy into 2015 at an ‘Upfronts’ launch in Dublin. According to the station, for the first time programming spend on originated content exceeds its spend on acquisitions. Director of content Jeff Ford announced a 2015 schedule built across six genres, including soap – TV3 will launch its first originated soap drama with the working title ‘Red Rock’. A total of 10,500 newly digitised items have been released by the National Library of Ireland (NLI). Dramatic advances in information technology means the NLI is driving forward a programme of metadata creation, digitisation, digital preservation and online access to Ireland’s cultural heritage, according to Sara Smyth, NLI digitisation programme manager.
