As aircraft maintenance company Transaero Engineering Ireland was officially launch in Shannon today, the managing director of its parent airline said it is likely to create additional jobs in the future. The launch of the company follows the acquisition of the former Air Atlanta Aero Engineering facility at Shannon Airport by Transaero Airlines, the second largest airline in Russia. Transaero Engineering Ireland currently employs 241 staff but this number is expected to grow through the addition of line/project maintenance on Boeing 747 and 777 aircraft and increased aircraft interior, training and engineering capability. Libya is set to lift its 16-year ban on importing beef from Ireland and other EU countries, according to Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD. The Minister said he is optimistic that official confirmation of this will be received imminently. He said the progress reflects intensive efforts over many years at political, diplomatic and technical level and represented the continuing improvement in relations between Libya and the EU. University College Dublin (UCD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chinese dairy producer Dairy United, resulting in multi-million euro contracts. Steady demand from Irish micro-businesses and sole traders exists for a .ie domain name, according to latest figures from the IE Domain Registry (IEDR). It reports that new .ie domain registrations for the first three months of the year totaled 9,398, a 12.2pc increase on the previous quarter.
