Dublin-based Keogh’s Farm is producing a range of hand-cooked potato crisps, distributed through Superquinn, Donnybrook Fair and a range of independent retailers nationwide.

The Keogh family has been growing potatoes in north Co Dublin for over 200 years and are the only “on-farm” producers of hand-cooked potato crisps in Ireland.

They recently set up a small ‘crisping house’ on their farm, hand cooking crisps in small batches and turning them from 'crop to crisp' on the same day.

Keogh’s has carefully selected several Irish food producers to create three uniquely Irish flavours for their hand-cooked crisps.

The ‘Roast Beef and Dungarvan Irish Stout’ crisps have been created with Irish stout supplied by Dungarvan Brewing Company. It uses artisan methods with all brewing and bottling done on-site in their brewery in Co Waterford ensuring that they can oversee production from grain to finished bottle.

The mature cheese flavour of Dubliner Irish Cheese has been used in the cheese and onion variety. Meanwhile Keogh’s Atlantic Sea Salt & Lewellyn’s Irish Cider Vinegar Crisps incorporate David Llewellyn’s Irish orchard produce from his small-holding in North Co Dublin, near Keogh’s Farm.

He grows a range of fruits and produces a selection of natural products from these fruits including his award-winning cider vinegar.

Expanding the product range

“The idea for Keogh’s hand-cooked Irish crisp range came about as we looked into expanding our product offering based on the popularity of our potatoes,” said Tom Keogh of Keogh’s Farm.

“Believe it or not we are the only potato growers in the world who offer fresh potatoes and potato crisps from the same farm side by side in the same store. We were determined to work with Irish food producers like ourselves to create a distinctly Irish range of crisps that are hand-cooked on the farm.”

Keogh’s are also the first to launch the unique ‘Spud Nav’ through which the consumer can trace their bag of crisps back to the field it came from, by entering the field name - which is printed on each bag into the ‘Spud Nav’ page on the Keoghs web site.
