Students to come up with the 'Post Office of the Future'
The Irish Postmasters’ Union (IPU) and An Post are inviting Institute of Technology post-graduate students to enter a competition to find innovative ideas for post offices of the future.
According to the IPU and An Post, post offices are open for business and anxious to find out what some of the brightest students in the country think the future holds for the post office network nationwide.
Two winning teams will be chosen with each winning €5,000.
There are two categories to enter – the Rural Post Office or the Urban Post office, each with its own unique strengths, requirements and customer profiles.
It is up to the entrants to create their vision for their chosen Post Office, from the design and layout, to business models and PR plans.
“We want creative yet practical ideas, and most importantly we want to know what do you want from your post office?"said Brian McGann, IPU general secretary.
“The existing network serves 1.7m customers every week, and we want to ensure that the post office has a sustainable future, still very much at the heart of Irish life and communities.”
The closing date for entries is 23 March 2012 with winners being announced in May. Further information can be found here.
