Paul Kenny, newly appointed start-up ambassador

Enterprise Ireland has appointed a start-up ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa, as part of its strategy of encouraging overseas entrepreneurs to locate here.

Paul Kenny is a successful Irish entrepreneur with many years experience in the region. He will work closely with Enterprise Ireland to highlight Ireland and what it has to offer for technology start-ups.

His appointment follows that of Dylan Collins for the UK market last year, and further appointments of start-up ambassadors in key markets such as the US and China are planned for the coming year.

Last year, a new dedicated €10m International Start-up Fund was launched to target investor-ready overseas entrepreneurs to start their businesses in Ireland.

Administered by Enterprise Ireland, the fund is open to company promoters anywhere in the world, but is targeted particularly at the Irish Diaspora, international expatriates, the ‘New Diaspora’ (people from overseas who have previously worked or studied in Ireland), as well as serial and mobile entrepreneurs.

An increasing number of mobile international entrepreneurs are coming to Ireland as their location of choice to start a new business and from the volume of enquiries that Enterprise Ireland has received this trend is set to continue in 2012.

More information on starting a business in Ireland can be found here.
