Deloitte is looking for ideas from entrepreneurial college students on how technology can solve business problems with the launch of the 2012 Top Technology Talent Competition.

The shortlisted entries will be invited to Deloitte’s offices in May to present their idea, ‘Dragons Den' style, to a panel of industry experts who will determine the overall winner.

The winner will get to choose either a €1,000 prize or four weeks’ paid work experience in Deloitte’s Technology Integration practice, where they can develop their idea further.

“Deloitte’s Top Technology Talent competition is all about finding the finest minds amongst the next generation of technology talent. We are looking for practicable, workable and innovative ideas that use any form of technology to solve a business problem, create a business opportunity or enhance an existing service offering,” explained Harry Goddard, partner, Technology Integration, Deloitte.

Last year’s winner John Griffin had studied Business and Legal Studies in University College Dublin.

His came up with a website concept allowing users to improve their interview skills and confidence by practicing interviews virtually using their webcam. This footage could then be reviewed by the user and/or a trained professional who would provide expert guidance, for an added charge, on how they can improve their interview skills.

The closing date for entries is 13 Apri. Further details about entering the competition can be found here.
