Around Noon wins €1.25m contract with Compass Group Ireland

Newry-based company Around Noon has won a contract worth €1.25m with food and support services company Compass Group Ireland to supply 90 of its units with sandwiches, wraps and salads.

Thanks to the deal, up to 10 new jobs will be created by Around Noon, which currently employs 101 people.

The family business founded by Francis and Sheila Chambers in 1989 and now managed by their children Gareth and Andrea Chambers operates the Scribbles brand and also supplies café chain Insomnia with sandwiches and salads.

The sandwiches were originally made on the kitchen table of the family home and delivered by Sheila Chambers in a picnic basket. The company focuses on high quality ‘grab and go’ food while maintaining its original homemade approach.

For Compass Group Ireland, this latest appointment further reinforces its commitment to working with Irish suppliers across Ireland.

In the past year it appointed Cork-based Hodgins Foods to supply all sausages and black pudding to its sites, Dublin-based La Rousse Foods to supply artisan Irish and French cheeses, breads, handmade chocolates and specialty game, Johnston Mooney and O’Brien to supply bread and all fresh fish is sourced from Wexford firm Atlantis Seafoods.

Employing over 4,000 people on the island of Ireland, Compass Group Ireland operates over 250 units and serves over 100,000 meals a day.
