The mid-west region suffered the biggest rise in Live Register figures during November, new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) have shown.
Five out of the eight regions saw an increase in Live Register numbers, the CSO said, but the mid-west saw the largest increase out of all of them with a 1.7pc rise.
In contrast, the largest percentage decreases in November were in Dublin and the West, which both saw Live Register numbers fall by 0.6pc.
Among the counties, the largest percentage increase during the month was in Carlow (3.8pc), while Longford at -3.5pc had the largest percentage decrease.
The CSO figures showed the unadjusted Live Register increased to 413,505 in November from 412,407 in
October, which represented a monthly increase of 1,098 (+0.3pc).
In the year to November 2009, the unadjusted Live Register increased by 54.8pc to 146,316 people, the CSO said. While all regions showed annual increases, the largest percentage increase was in the Dublin region, up 60pc, while the West had the smallest percentage increase of 47.9pc.
