The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Mary Hanafin TD, has today announced the reappointment of Paul Kenny as the Pensions Ombudsman.
Kenny was first appointed to the role in 2003.
“I am pleased that Paul Kenny has accepted reappointment and would like to thank him for the service he has provided for the many pension scheme members he has dealt with over the past few years. I look forward to working with him over his new term in office,” Minister Hanafin said.
Kenny is a former Chairperson of the Retirement Planning Council of Ireland. He worked for over 30 years with Irish Pensions Trust/Mercer Human Resources Consulting. He holds a BComm (NUI) and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and of the Irish Institute of Pensions Managers.
Since 2003, the Office of the Pensions Ombudsman has received over 2,500 complaints. In 2008, the Office received 758 complaints – an increase of over 47pc on the previous year.
