The latest JNLR figures reveal that 4FM’s market share in terms of minutes listened in the 7am to 7pm slot has increased by 33pc to 2pc since the last report.
An average of 123,000 listeners tuned into 4FM each week in January to June 2010, according to the station. This, it said, compares with 103,000 weekly listeners in the previous six months.
It equates to a 6pc share of weekly listenership across the multi-city franchise area with 7pc weekly share in Cork and 9pc in Galway.
The station said the growth in the over 45s audience had been particularly strong, with weekly reach of 11pc in the 45-54 age group, while ‘listened yesterday’ among this age group doubled from 4pc to 8pc.
“This latest JNLR survey confirms that we have more listeners, that they are listening for longer to the station and, in particular, that our popularity with the over 35 adult audience is increasing rapidly,” said Jim Miley, CEO, 4FM. “We are confident that the recent programme changes we have made to the station will enable us to continue to grow our audience. Further schedule changes are planned in the near future.”
