Vodafone Group announces further cost-cutting plans
The Vodafone Group overall reported a 3.6pc rise in pre-tax profit to £5.48bn during the third quarter and confirmed its guidance for the full year.
Group revenue increased by 9.3pc to £21.8bn, Vodafone said, as it confirmed its expectations for full-year adjusted operating profit in the range of £11bn to £11.8bn and free cash flow around the upper end of the £6bn to £6.5bn range.
“The group has performed in line with our expectations and we have made strong progress with our strategic priorities, in particular in mobile data and cash generation,” said Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao (pictured).
“We have confirmed our guidance for the full year, despite the uncertainties of current economic trends,” he added.
The telecoms operator also announced plans to cut costs by an additional £1bn, having achieved its initial target of £1bn in cost savings. This new cost-cutting programme will extend into 2012, Vodafone said.
