The Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD is to host a major economic forum in Dublin later this year, and will call upon leading international figures with Irish links to attend the event aimed at generating ideas for the country’s economic recovery.
The Irish Times has reported that the Taoiseach will personally invite leading Irish businesspeople and those with Irish links or heritage to the Global Irish Economic Forum.
The majority of participants will be drawn from countries with a significant Irish community and from countries where Irish people have been successful in business, the paper said.
The forum is being hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of other government departments and state agencies, and will be held at Farmleigh House on the weekend of 18-20 September 2009.
