Eircom Junior Spider Awards 2015 deadline approaching

The deadline for the 2015 Eircom Junior Spider Awards is approaching and primary and post primary schools across Ireland have just a matter of weeks to submit their projects.

The awards, established to highlight how the students embrace the internet, also mark the innovative ways it is used both in school and in their daily lives.

Similar to previous years, they are divided into three main categories: the Mega Spiders aimed at primary level; and the Giga and Tera Spiders, which are aimed at post primary level.

The Giga Spiders are open to first-year to third-year students and the Tera Spiders are open to fourth-year to sixth-year students. For the first time a new – and very popular category – has been added aimed at transition-year projects, as well another cross-category award focused on the coding of websites.

“These awards continue to mirror the astounding ability of students of all ages, and we are constantly impressed with the standard of entries. It is not an easy task to choose a shortlist from the talent that we see each year, and the judges have a very hard task ahead,” said Lisa Comerford, consumer marketing director, Eircom and chairperson of the Eircom Junior Spider Awards judging panel.

“I would like to thank the students and teachers who devote so much time and energy into competing and we judges are very much looking forward to reviewing the 2015 entries. The deadline is approaching but there is still time to get your entries in.”
