Eddie Rocket’s launches into space with new advertising campaign with interactive social media twist

Eddie Rocket’s is launching a new TV ad with an interactive social media campaign that will allow customers to choose the ending that will appear on TV in this month.

It’s the first time in five years that Eddie Rocket’s has been on TV screens and the ad is part of a wider marketing campaign in 2014 for Eddie Rocket’s that will include a series of new TV ads, with a total investment of over €250,000.

The new TV ad is set in outer space and features an astronaut reaching for an Eddie Rocket’s hamburger that is simply ‘Out of this World’. The ad has been shot with two endings and both versions have been posted on the Eddie Rocket’s Facebook page and will be up for two weeks.

Viewers have the opportunity to vote for the version they prefer with the winning ad appearing on TV in April. Eddie Rocket’s Facebook fans will also have a chance to win a €2,000 trip to anywhere on Earth when they vote on Facebook.

Bonfire is the creative agency behind the campaign, along with director Andy Sherman, who used a combination of live action and CGI to create the commercials.

“We wanted to create a campaign that would really engage with the viewers,” said Seán Hynes from Bonfire. “When you really think about it, as well as being a successful diner, Eddie Rocket’s is also in the entertainment business so it was crucial that the ads reflected this.”

CEO of Eddie Rocket’s Niall Fortune added: “Eddie Rocket’s has been the undisputed home of hamburger perfection for nearly 25 years so it was important for us to highlight this in the ads and continue to build on the brand awareness of an expanding Irish company. Eddie Rocket’s has recently opened a new dinette concept in the Stephen’s Green Centre and a new diner will open in Tullamore in the next few weeks.

“The chain will also expand internationally in the future so it’s an exciting time to launch a new TV campaign and remind everyone that Eddie Rocket’s is still the only place where you can get freshly prepared and made to order high quality Irish food in a unique American diner style setting.”
