Twitter widens enhanced brand pages trial
Twitter is in the process of extending its enhanced brand pages trial, which it started rolling out in December.
The enhanced profile pages are designed to increase a brand’s Twitter presence, by prominently showing specific content and visually branding the page. Brands can add logos and images to a header on the page and have permanent promoted tweets at the top of the page at all times.
Initially, the micro-blogging site invited 21 companies to test new brand pages, including Coca-Cola, HP, Dell, Best Buy and American Express.
Now, a number of additional brands have started using the platform, including Cadbury, Asda, Sky HD, Volkswagen, The Huffington Post and NBC News.
According to Twitter, enhanced profile pages are currently available to a small selection of brands, but will be rolled out more broadly in the coming weeks and months.
Twitter is also expected to increase the functionality of brand pages over the coming months to allow companies turn their pages into brand platforms with ecommerce capabilities.
