World boxing champion Katie Taylor was today unveiled as Procter & Gamble's Irish Olympic ambassador for Ireland.

As ambassador, Taylor will work on P&G’s Irish marketing activities, including being part of the company’s Proud Sponsor of Mum’s campaign with her mother Bridget.

“For more than 80 years in Ireland, Mum has been our boss,” said Roisin Donnelly, marketing director, P&G UK and Ireland, who was in Dublin this morning to announce details of the company’s Olympic Games sponsorship. “Mums have driven our product innovation and our marketing communication, it’s for this reason we’re putting Katie and her mum at the heart of this campaign.”

“I am very close to my family and P&G’s campaign keeps families at its core and that’s important to me,” said Taylor. “I’m really looking forward to working on all aspects of the campaign.”

The ‘Proud Sponsor of Mums’ campaign will feature throughout P&G’s sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic Games. P&G’s Olympic Games partnership begins with London 2012 and incorporates Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games.

According to P&G, the sponsorship is the first to cover multiple brands under one sponsor and will span the next 10 years, over 30 product categories and 205 National Olympic Committees to raise awareness of and reward mums’ contributions globally.
