Inside This Issue

  • Banking on good communications

The reputations of even the most esteemed financial services brands have taken a battering in recent times. The perception that Joe Public has had to bear the burden of their greed and imprudence has meant that even the more responsible players have not gone unscathed. So where to now?

  • The professionals

Those marketers of a sensitive disposition look away now. Leading marketing authority Professor Malcolm McDonald has some harsh words to say about the marketing community, and he doesn’t pull any punches.

  • A writer's tale

Although best known as an author, Salman Rushdie previously enjoyed a successful career in advertising. Grainne Rothery heard him reminisce about his former life.

  • The power of print

While reports of the demise of newspapers have been widely exaggerated, Peter McPartlin finds that the medium needs to assert its credentials as a brand-building channel.

  • Talking points

Which recent ad campaign has made you sit up and take notice? We asked the question, and our four guest reviewers answered as follows.
