Dublin band shortlisted for Mercury Music Prize

Dublin band The Villagers have made the shortlist for this year’s Mercury Music Prize with their debut album, Becoming a Jackal.

The band, who are signed to independent label Domino Records, face stiff competition for the prize from the likes of Mumford and Sons, Dizzee Rascal, Corinne Bailey Rae, Paul Weller and Laura Marling.

The winner of the Mercury Music Prize will be announced in London on 7 September.

The Mercury Music Prize 2010 shortlist:
