Patrick Coveney Joins Glanbia’s Board of Directors

Greencore CEO Patrick Coveney has been appointed to the board of Glanbia as a non-executive director.

Coveney, who’s 43, has been chief executive of convenience food group Greencore – which has revenues of £1.2bn and employing over 12,000 people in the UK, Ireland, and the US, since 2007. Before that, he was Greencore’s chief financial officer.

He was previously a global partner of McKinsey and Co, focused on consumer and food industries. Coveney is a former Rhodes scholar and holds a DPhil and MPhil from Oxford University.

“I am very pleased that Patrick has agreed to join the Glanbia board. I believe he is well equipped to support the group’s next phase of growth and its vision to be the world’s leading performance nutrition and ingredients group,” said Glanbia chairman Liam Herlihy.

Patrick Coveney is an accomplished Irish business leader with extensive experience in the food and consumer goods industries. He holds a BA in Economics from Trinity College Dublin and an M.Phil in Economics from the University of Oxford. He also earned his Ph.D. in Management Studies from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

Coveney has held various leadership roles throughout his career. He served as the CEO of Greencore Group, a leading international convenience food manufacturer, from 2008 until 2021. Under his leadership, Greencore experienced significant growth and expansion, particularly in the UK and the US markets.

Before becoming Greencore’s CEO, he held other positions within the company, such as the Chief Financial Officer and the Group Development Director. Before joining Greencore, Coveney worked as a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Patrick Coveney’s experience and academic background have made him a valuable addition to various boards and committees. In addition to his appointment to the board of Glanbia, a global nutrition company, he has served as a non-executive director for several companies, including Grafton Group and the Irish Management Institute.

Coveney’s expertise in the food and consumer goods sectors and his strong track record of strategic leadership make him a valuable asset to Glanbia and other organizations he’s associated with.
