The Irish Government has appointed investment bank Rothschild to act as an adviser on the restructuring of the country’s banking system, according to reports.
The Reuters news agency said a spokesman for the Department of Finance had confirmed Rothschild’s new role.
Reuters quotes a source close to Rothschild as saying that the bank is to advise the Department of Finance on how to shape the Irish banking industry going forward, including the establishment of the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) and any possible consolidation in the sector.
