Espion opens new offices; 12 new jobs to be created

Irish security firm Espion is set to create 12 new jobs over the next 18 months at its new offices in Dublin, which were opened by Communications Minister Eamon Ryan TD today.

The company said its new offices, located at Deansgrange in Co Dublin, will spearhead its next phase of growth, which will focus on three key areas of R&D, international expansion and new services offerings.

Espion has recently won contracts in Scotland and is recruiting to service that business.

“The internet continues to play an increasingly positive role in our business and personal lives - which is why it’s so important to be aware of the risks and to know what to do about these risks.  Espion’s work in this area of information security is just the kind of progress we need to make in terms of the smart economy,” said Minister Ryan today.

“This smart economy is realisable, it is achievable, it will provide the jobs unlike any other area, and we are determined to go out and deliver those,” he added.

Espion’s R&D development to date has included Irish Honeynet Project, a project that from 2002-2008 researched the level of hacking on Irish-based computers with a broadband connection to the internet, as well as other initiatives for Government (the Make IT Secure campaign) and for private companies (including research into WiFi and other related technologies).

The company is also seeking to expand internationally and said it is well positioned to do so. It has also developed a new service offering in relation to cloud computing and security technologies.
